Jake Terrey

Photographer

Jake Terrey’s work is underscored by exploration and experimentation, embodying his desire to bring impact to a space that has become oftentimes disposable. An autodidact, early journeys via the camera lens were a way of extending his philosophy studies; he undertook ambitious international documentary projects as a means of learning through doing, and enriching through enquiry. Jake’s forays delivered: he was shooting for Vogue Australia by the age of 21.

The origins of his creativity continue to be rooted in expansive, multi-disciplinary projects - he produces and writes music professionally - which honour Jake’s quest to create art that doesn’t dehumanise, and instead appeals to an organic algorithm. The result is an evolving body of work which traverses photographic genres, often touching on the surreal, the transcendent and the otherworldly, while remaining grounded through a playful delight in human quirks and idiosyncrasies: in short, both the brilliance and absurdity of being.

Jakes work has been published in Vogue Homme HK, Vogue Spain, GQ UK, GQ Australia, GQ CHINA, Vanity fair US, Marie Claire, Cero, Puss Puss, T Magazine Australia, Flaunt LA, RUSSH, InStyle, Icon UAE, Icon Australia, Harpers US and Elle.
